Dear Mother, We ambushed another Grand Republic convoy on the road yesterday. We lost John Ross in the fighting though. I don’t know if our unit can take more of this. He’s the 10th casualty in a week. We’re running out of men and command can’t spare anymore. I miss you guys a lot and I’m not sure when I’ll be able to come home again. Sergeant Riley says we may be back in town by Christmas as the G.R.A. is planning a large operation to the north, but I don’t know anymore than that. How’s Jimmy doing? He must be getting big now. Has he started walking yet? I hope I can get home to see him soon. Oh and how’s dad? Has he been taking his medicine? If the doc gives you a hard time about the price just let me know and I’ll have one of the guys head over to talk to him. I hope to see you guys soon, I love you all. |
